This is the procedure to follow for filing a new case:

1. You must come to the Family Relations office to purchase a Self-Help packet.

2. Fill out the documents to the best of your ability. Please print and use black ink.

3. You will sign the forms and have the appropriate forms Notarized.

4. Make two copies of all of the forms that you filled out. One copy is for you (the Petitioner) and one copy is for the other party (the Respondent).

5. Bring all of your original documents, both sets of copies, 6 self addressed stamped envelopes (3 to each party) and the filing fee to the Family Relations Department in Ft. Pierce.

6. If possible, we would like to have a copy of the Driver's License for the Petitioner, the Respondent, and the person that is to complete the Affidavit of Corroborating Witness.

7. It will take approximately 30 minutes for the Clerk to open your case and process your paperwork.

8. The Clerk will then give you your receipt for the filing fee, a case number and further instructions on your next steps.
